Barbara Laszuk is a painter who lives in Canberra Australia where she owns her own art studio. A prominent painter known for her depictions of iconic Australian themes such as the Melbourne Cup, wildlife, and outback scenes, she has a career spanning over four decades. She is a largely self-taught, born to creative parents, with her father playing a key role in teaching her the fundamentals of drawing.
Barbara is a recipient of an award chosen by prominent figure Harold Abbott, head of the National Art School in Sydney and a finalised in the Albury Art Prize, Grafton Drawing awards, Windsor and Newton Australian awards and numerous other. Laszuk was a founding member of Albury’s art collective ‘Art n Country Skirts,’ which comprised four local artists. Her work is represented in collections across Australia, the USA, Japan, and England.
Laszuk began her formal art education at Albury Technical College in 1968, and further refined her skills through lessons with esteemed European painters Frank Le Compte and John van Holten, as well as workshops with Melbourne pastel artist Ming Bellamy Mackay and many others. She has worked in all mediums over her career.
Since moving to Canberra, Barbara has showcased her work through two solo exhibitions and numerous group shows. Blending her technical expertise in multimedia and web design, she also has a passion for photography, mosaics, and sculpture, producing art pieces that decorate her home and garden. She is a member of the Canberra Artists Society.
