Barbara Laszuk is a painter who lives in Canberra Australia where she has her own art studio.

Her practice mainly centres around contemporary figurative painting, exploring emotional depth, identity, and the quiet strength found within vulnerability. 

A prominent painter known for her depictions of iconic Australian themes, she frequently finds herself drawn to our beautiful country, the colours of inner Australian desert lands and outer regions of WA and NT. Red Earth as aptly named by indigenous Australians.

Laszuk is a largely self-taught, born to creative parents, with her father playing a key role in teaching her the fundamentals of drawing. 

She began her formal art education through lessons with esteemed European painters Frank Le Compte and John van Holten, as well as workshops with Melbourne pastel artist Ming Bellamy Mackay and others. She has worked in all mediums over her art career. 

She is a recipient of an award chosen by prominent figure Harold Abbott, head of the National Art School in Sydney and a finalised in the Albury Art Prize, Grafton Drawing awards, Windsor and Newton Australian awards and numerous others. She was a founding member of Albury’s art collective ‘Art n Country Skirts,’ which comprised four local artists. Her work is represented in collections across Australia, the USA, Japan, and England.

Since moving to Canberra, Laszuk has showcased her work through two solo exhibitions and numerous group shows. She combines her technical skills in multimedia and web design with her passion for photography, mosaics, and sculpture, creating art pieces that adorn her home and garden. Laszuk is a member of the Artists Society of Canberra.
